A world without female shame discusses language that is used to reinforce shame around female biological processes.
An ideal world where woman are not shamed for periods, body hair, labia length, using the bathroom and having textured skin has been written down on paper but has not been entirely accepted in the real world. Language is still used to reinforce the idea that this is not a standard a woman should embrace. The use of nicknames to talk about vaginas and periods also do this as it stigmatises their real names, words that are uncomfortable to use.
I decided to create a hypothetical exhibition to show how simple it could be to turn this ideal into a reality by removing shame induced language and to simply let woman be. I did this by showing everyday events (buying period products and going to the bathroom) to showcase this idea as well as using papermache as a representation of taking this ideal world off of paper and into a physical form.
